Day Out with Lee

Last time I went to Slattery, back in April, to see my friend Amy, Lee complained that I never take him. It's quite difficult though to get a table at the weekends, so I told him to have a day off and we would go. So he did. We set off about 10.30 and went over Woodhead Pass. We got to Slatterys about 11.45 so went in and straight upstairs for our table at twelve o'clock.

We were seated in one of the booths, which was lovely! I think I've only sat in one of those twice before. I went for a bagel with smoked salmon (I do occasionally eat fish, and I love smoked salmon) and a hot chocolate to begin with. Lee had a tuna jacket potato and a hot chocolate too. Then for dessert we shared - we got Belgian waffles with chocolate and ice cream, and two scoops of ice cream, chocolate and strawberry, with a chocolate pot of milk chocolate poured over them. The chocolate solidified which was delicious!

By the time we had finished lunch we were stuffed. I had a nice coffee with my dessert, too. We weren't sure what to do then, so we decided to go to the Trafford Centre. It must be about a decade since I was last there and it's changed a lot in that time! We wandered into a few shops and then went into the food hall. I'm sad to see that the water feature is no longer in the middle of the downstairs! There was a bar near where we were, so we decided to get a drink there.

I had a white sangria which was absolutely delicious. I think I will have to try to make myself some over the summer. Lee had a lemonade. It was quiet but really nice. We then went into a few more shops before setting off back home at about 3.30. We got home about 5pm! It was a lovely day out.

I was wearing two things which are new to me but secondhand. Firstly my shoes were from a charity shop in Thirsky last autumn and I love them and was looking forward to wearing them this summer. But they rubbed blisters on my feet, so I will have to be careful when and where I wear them! I hope they'll stretch though. They're from Clarks originally so definitely worth the £5 I paid for them!

Then my dress! Lolly gave it to me just the day before this. I love the pattern. It's from Topsy Curvy originally and I just love how bright and loud it is. I will definitely wear this again.

Lee in our lovely booth in Slatterys. It's an absolutely gorgeous shop downstairs - they do amazing wedding cakes, other cakes, chocolate, and tons of other gifts - and the dining room upstairs which does amazing chocolate and lovely pastries as well as savoury dishes

Here's me - you can see a bit of the dress

My luscious hot chocolate

My smoked salmon bagel was not stingy on the salmon at all! There was cream cheese and spinach underneath

Our waffles and the chocolate pot that I ordered separately

Which we poured over this delicious ice cream

Looking one way just outside of Selfridges

And the other way. The Trafford Centre is one of the weirdest places on earth

For instance, the food court looks like a cruise ship. I wish they still had the water where the big T is!

These cute angel and devil wings were in the bar where we had a drink

Here we are!

My lovely white sangria

My shoes and you can see my teal footless tights too

And finally the dress, isn't it just so gaudy and ridiculous! I love it!

What I Wore 25th September

On 25th September my auntie Chris (not my real auntie, she worked with my mum at the woollen mill Sirdar in the late 70s and they've been in touch ever since) and her husband Jon had a party to celebrate their 65th birthdays. The party was planned for April 2020 but has been cancelled and postponed a number of times, obviously thanks to Covid. But finally it could go ahead, so Lee and I and my mum and stepdad were excited to go.

Only then my mum ended up in A&E with my grandma, who was feeling dizzy and thanks to her pacemaker 111 told her to go to A&E. So my mum took her, but messaged me, saying she was hoping to make the party for the last hour. It was about 6pm on the Saturday and I told her she had no chance of leqaving A&E before midnight at least because just of how it is at the moment. So we decided Lee would go to the hospital to stay with my grandma, and my mum and stepdad would come to the party. Lee dropped me off at the party and I talked to Chrissy's eldest daughter Charlotte, and then one of Jon's cousins who had come up from Bristol. She was lovely, it was nice to make a new friend! I knew someone else there too - someone else who used to work at Sirdar - so I sat with her until my mum and stepdad arrived around 8pm. There was food and wine and we all had a good time.

Meanwhile my grandma started feeling better, and there were 11 people in front of her in A&E, and there was nothing wrong with her pacemaker, so Lee decided to take her home. We all met there around 11pm and made sure my grandma was okay before coming home. I'm so glad my mum got to go to the party - it meant a lot to both her and Chrissy!

I wore this Yours clothing dress that I like for a fancy occasion and I love the green of it too. I pulled out these bottle green brogues that I've had for ages to wear too. I can't wear them for long as they start to pinch, but they're ideal for a party and match this dress really well!

Afternoon Tea and What I Wore 5th February

On the second day of Stacey's hen party we met in the Grand Arcade in Leeds for afternoon tea at Just Grand. I've been there before but never for afternoon tea. It was really nice - unlimited coffee or tea, four types of sandwich, scones with jam and clotted cream, and cake. All for the bargain price of £12.95 each!

The waiter kindly took this photo of us:

Everything in Just Grand is vintage, down to the cups and saucers and the menus, which are made out of records! The food was really yummy and I'd recommend the place for a special occasion like this.

I wore this Asos dress along with a New Look cardigan and Evans belt. I haven't worn the dress in ages!

I mostly wanted to wear a greenish dress to match my new green shoes. They're from Clarks and they were down to £30 in the sale! I bought them with some Christmas money. They're quite narrow so if you have wide feet they may not fit. They're so beautiful!

I took an outside photo to show off the colour better. I'm so in love!

Here's a better view of the pattern on the dress. Lee says it looks like a china pattern, which it does, and I love it! It's just a swing dress so it looks better with a belt to pull it in on me.
