Mother's Day 2024

My mum and stepdad had been away in Gran Canaria for a week, but got back on the 9th of March, just in time for Mother's Day. I had had a bit of a busy week and on the Saturday Lee and I went and bought a new mattress which was thrilling as you can imagine, and then I went to my friend Sarah's in the evening to hang out with her. Lee booked for the four of us to go to Fox House Inn near Holmfirth on Mother's Day. Lee and I went just before Christmas and it's really nice homecooked food so we thought it would be nice for all of us.

On Sunday morning I had a shower and scrubbed and shaved myself too, it was about time and I really needed it. Then we sorted some stuff out in the bedroom and got it nice and tidy before we set off. We arrived about 1.20 and my mum and stepdad weren't far behind us.

My stepdad said he would drive them home so my mum and I ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to share, which was lovely. We had also already decided that we would share a starter and a pudding because the portions are big and my mum and I couldn't have managed all those courses. So we shared garlic mushrooms, Lee and my stepdad had Yorkshire puddings (which are worth the trip to the pub by themselves). Then I had veggie carvery which was just the vegetables and Yorkshire pudding, and delicious, but not TOO much! My mum had the seniors carvery which was similar in size to mine and likewise it was a good amount of food for her. My stepdad had meat and potato ale pie and Lee had garlic chicken supreme. It is all homecooked and delicious food and just so nice.

Lee had chocolate sponge for pudding, my stepdad didn't have one, and my mum and I shared some ice cream. It was honestly so nice, it's such a nice pub and feels like a bit of a luxury but the prices aren't stupid.

We left about 4pm and my mum and stepdad came back to ours for a couple of hours, so that they could see the cats and stuff because I'm not sure they've seen them since Christmas! My mum and I shared a bottle of English sparkling wine that Lee's mam and stepdad bought me for my birthday. It was really nice!

After they went home I just relaxed for the rest of the night which was nice. I had been wearing a Hell Bunny dress that I bought off Georgina Grogan/She Might Be Loved recently. I love the pattern on it, but I knew it was going to be too low necked on me. But I also knew it would most likely look fine with a tank top underneath. And it does! My mum couldn't tell that it wasn't supposed to have the black bit there. I love the dress and I think I'll be wearing it a lot.

I was also wearing my teal blue footless tights from Snag, as I love the colour of them and they match the dress, and a pair of Converse that my mum bought me for Christmas. They're off Vinted so didn't cost her very much, and I love the sparkles on them! I haven't worn them before but they're really comfortable so I'll definitely be wearing them again soon!

Here's this lovely dress! Up close it's herons and roses and stuff and is just really lovely. I am so glad I got this from Georgina!

Teal footless tights and second hand Converse with a sparkly bit at the heel

I even put some make up on! Here I am i nthe car when we set off. My necklace says I Am I Am I Am which is from a Sylvia Plath poem. My friend Stacey bought me this for my birthday and this was the first time I had worn it. The lipstick is a Models Own one and I love the coral colour, it really brightens my face. You can also see all my greys in my hair in this photo, which is fine

Garlic mushrooms and brown bread - I would have struggled to eat all this myself but it was nice

Here's all four of us when starters arrived

Lee's Yorkshire puddings, honestly I could eat these right now

My veggie carvery - they did have a nut roast but I honestly thought this was more than aedquate for me. I say this not to judge anyone else's food choices but because I know my personal limits

And finally the English sparkling wine that I had, it was nice!

Tea out with Katie and What I Wore December 5th

I went out for tea with my friend Katie on the 5th of December. She said for me to choose where we went, so I looked around and decided on Ego at the Bull's Head in Horbury. It had some nice veggie options and I thought it would be nice for just before Christmas. We met at 7 and Katie had bought me the cutest necklace shaped like a jammy dodger! Amazing!

I had actually been to craft club earlier in the day and had worn a new t-shirt that says 'Merry Kissmas' on it, I bought it in the sales in early 2022. I wore it with my pleated silky skirt from New Look forever ago, and a red cardigan that came from George at Asda originally. It was a cute outfit to wear to craft club.

Back to Katie! I had garlic mushrooms to start with then a halloumi kebab, then I ordered chocolate tart and Katie ordered lemon tart and we shared them - they were both nice. I didn't love the halloumi kebab but it was fine. The garlic mushrooms were good though! It was nice to catch up with Katie.

I wore this houndstooth dress that I got from Hell Bunny forever ago. I don't wear it often as it's quite thick. It's such a winter dress! I do like it, and Katie complimented it too. The collar is velvet which adds to how warm it is.

What I Wore March 21st

During the day on our second day in Shropshire I was wearing this. It's an outfit I really like but it needs the weather to be decent because it's not very warm. I bought both these pieces off Lolly ages ago. The top is from Hell Bunny I think, and the skirt is by Interrobang Art. It has a glasses pattern on it, although you can't see it very well. I always wear these two together, they just fit!

In the evening I had packed this Scarlett & Jo dress. It's not one of my favourites because although I love the skirt, the top is a funny shape on me and seems to show off more of my bra and boobs than I'd really like it to. I keep saying that I'll cut the top off and just wear it as a skirt, which I'm planning to do with another S&J dress where the top had gone bobbly. I haven't got around to it yet but I will! Sometime!

I do love this dress because it has pockets!

What I Wore September 8th

Near the beginning of September Lee and I were away in Cheshire. I'll write more about that later, but here's what I wore. I bought the skirt and top off Lolly and, like her, think they look perfect together. The skirt is from Interrobang Art and I love the patterns they have. I had one skirt from them but I sold it as it was a bit short for me. This one is longer, though.

The sweater is from Hell Bunny I think, it's maybe more cream than it looks in photos? It's really soft and stretchy and I love the retro pattern. I also love the glasses pattern on the skirt.

I wore this all day, including to go out. We wanted to go out to eat but when we set off we ended up getting caught up in the traffic from this accident, where thankfully no one was hurt, it just meant that the M6 was shut and there were people everywhere. We ended up going back to the motorhome we were staying in and cooking there instead. It was fine, though.

What I Wore 14th May

14th May was a busy day for me. It was my friend Pippa's 40th birthday and she was having a party in Sheffield, and from there we were going with our friends Bettie and Jen to my mother's as we're soon going on holiday together and needed to do online check in and all that stuff.

I had already decided to wear this Hell Bunny dress I got recently in the sale from Simply Be. I wasn't sure it would fit, and although it is a little bit snug around my waist, I think it looks fine. In fact, I think it looks perfect! The arms are a bit snug on me too, but they're not uncomfortable. The black bit at the top and the belt are velvet textured, which is nice. The material is houndstooth pattern, which you can't see very well in the picture, and it's quite thick, which meant I was quite warm as it was a warm day! Oh well, I'll know in the future. The skirt is really flared and spins gorgeously - I can't be the only one who likes to twirl in a spinny skirt!

I decided to keep my accessories green - I love my green brogues so I also wore green make up, jewellery, and hair clip. I got a lot of compliments on the dress so I'll definitely be wearing it again.

I also really want to wear this dress with black patent shoes and red lipstick

Pippa's party was held at the Showroom Cinema which weirdly enough was where Lee and I ate on Saturday that wekeend too. She had a gorgeous rainbow cake handmade by a friend, and it was so nice to meet her family and catch up with friends. The buffet was lovely and the cake was even lovelier!

I had a yellow bit

A friend of Pippa's had made her this gorgeous rainbow bunting, filled with things that she loves. I particularly like the Emmerdale one.

Here's the birthday girl about to cut her cake!

Lee and Bettie and Jen and I then went to my mother's where she had made a roast beef dinner. It was delicious! Then for dessert she made this - it's ginger biscuits dipped in sherry and sandwiched together with cream. She used to make it a lot when I was little, so I requested it for this meal!
