King Lear in Sheffield

On the 12th of September I met up with Sam and Jodie in Sheffield to go and see King Lear at the Crucible. We met just before 12pm and then we sat in Orchard Square for a bit until Pho opened. We obviously managed to get a table easily so we went in. I had my usual order - spicy lemonade, summer rolls with peanut sauce, and spicy tofu curry. It was good as always!

After we'd eaten we walked down to the Crucible. It's one of my favourite theatres ever as I love seeing things in the round. I've never seen King Lear but I know the basic story. We had good seats. Ian McDiarmid was playing Lear and his voice did occasionally go into Emperor Palpatine which was pretty funny. He was really good, though, as were the rest of the cast. The costumes looked gorgeous - the three daughters in particular looked really good.

We had snacks in the interval and chatted, and then afterwards we just said bye to each other. I went back to Middlewood on the tram and drove home. I was reading The List of Suspicious Things which I found didn't really live up to my expectations, so I was glad to finish it!

I wore my red leopard print dress that I've had for a few years now, and with it I wore my new leopart print cardigan. I got it off Vinted but it was brand new with tags from Simply Be. It was a lot of leopard print but I think it looked really cute together!

Summer rolls with peanut sauce. Can you believe Sam doesn't like the peanut sauce? Shocked and appalled

Spicy tofu curry with rice, plus added coriander from Sam and Jodie as neither of them like it as much as I do

The signage outside of the Crucible. What you can't see is that the rest of the cast were also in Twelfth Night with Mat Horne a couple of weeks later - his face was on the left

Before the play started. I love how sparse the stagings are in the Crucible

The three of us as the place was starting to fill up

Leopard on leopard, with footless tights too

And my book, when I was in bed reading later
