What I Wore April 16th

Another holiday post. I actually like packing clothes for holidays because I find I mix and match a lot more than I would at home.

Skirt is from Asos Curve
Top is a strappy one from New Look
Crochet top is from New Look forever ago.

I wear this jumper on holiday a lot because I like to layer.

What I Wore April 14th

I was on holiday last week in Norfolk with three of my best friends. It was supposed to be a birthday thing for me, but since Sarah works in a school we had to wait until her holidays and in actuality I'm glad we did as the weather was absolutely glorious! We stayed in a cute end terrace on a modern cul-de-sac - it didn't look amazing in the photos but was lovely in actuality. It was warm and cosy and had a sun trap garden where we sat in the afternoons and drank wine.

We each took it in turns to cook and we spent two days on different beaches and one day in Norwich. I'll share some photos of the holiday, but here's an outfit post. I wore this to travel in and I really like it.

Neon pink top was from Simply Be in a pack of two a couple of years ago
Skirt is from Asos Curve
Cardigan is from New Look last year

I love the PINK of this top although it's not showing quite as bright here as in real life.

Big Boogie Prom

So as I mentioned here before, I was organising a "body positive, queer, trans inclusive prom" which was held in Wakefield on 29th March. I had a really amazing time and I'm going to run it again next year, but probably in Sheffield. There weren't as many attendees as I'd have liked but I think everyone had a great time.

I had got some great sponsors/raffle prize givers so first of all I'd like to thank them:

- The Melting House in Mirfield did a special deal on chocolates for the goodie bags for me and also donated a raffle prize
- Sarah at Pookledo kindly donated a pair of earrings for each goodie bag; if you don't wear earrings I hope you could find someone to pass them on to
- My friend Meg baked the lovely lemon cupcakes
- My mum bought the table flowers and also let us use the vases from her wedding to display them - gorgeous pink gerberas.
- Fashion World donated a lovely leather leopard print bag for the raffle
- ChunkyCatCuddler donated a gorgeous cat necklace
- Life's Big Canvas donated an amazing stationery set and also Big Boogie Prom badges for each goodie bag
- Cedar Court Hotel donated Sunday lunch for two with a bottle of wine
- Yours Clothing donated two canvas bags and an amazing £50 voucher!

I think all other raffle prizes were bought by me but if I've missed you out I do apologise.

Finally I have to also thank Fashion World for donating my amazing dress to me! It is from the Claire Richards collection. I had seen this dress but couldn't justify it at £90 - however having worn it I do think it's worth it for a wedding or other special occasion. It is absolutely beautiful and I'm not sure photos do it justice. It has netting underneath and is lined which gives it a smooth silhouette and all makes the skirt stick out a bit - perfect for dancing! I also love the fact that it has sleeves and that they're mesh - perfect for me as I don't like baring my arms but do like my tattoos to be seen!

The dress is available here. I also got the matching cardigan but didn't wear it as I was warm. I'll review this separately when I do wear it!

My "official" prom photo. My shoes were from Barratts 4 years ago, I wore them for my mum's wedding and realised they matched the pink flowers in the dress.

This was after the raffle - my mum bought me some flowers for all my hard work and I knew my stepdad would want a photo. My feet are awkward!

And here's the shot of all 24 attendees!

All photos courtesy of my stepdad.

What I Wore March 28th

I was running around the whole day doing errands for Big Boogie Prom (which was held the day after) so I needed something suitable for running around in. Now, you've seen this dress before but can you spot the difference?!

That's right, under the lined material on the bottom of the skirt was this tartan print! It did show through slightly before, but I much preferred it to the lined, so I asked my mum to swap it around. She had to cut a little bit off from the waist, but the length is still fine. She also turned the side seams in, so it lost a little bit of fullness there, but I'm sure you can't tell. I much prefer it this way, it is so much more of a statement!

What do you think?

What I Wore March 19th

This was a uni day where I had to give a presentation. I'm doing an MA in Writing, my specialism is Children's Writing as I'm writing a Young Adult novel. So my presentation was on taboo subjects in YA literature in a class that didn't know a lot about YA literature so I hope they enjoyed it.

I got this dress just a couple of weeks ago from New Look in Wakefield. It was £8 in the sale which is a total bargain! I've already worn it twice, it's a nice colour and I like the lace.

I also decided that I was in need of some kawaii ruffly socks so I took to eBay and found these - they're just £1.47 and they arrived in 12 days from China so I was impressed. I got them in purple, pink, and the green here, but I think I'll get them in white and black too. I like how they contribute to my hard femme aesthetic. I wore them with these fake docs type shoes from New Look.

What I Wore March 18th

This was an ordinary work outfit although I did meet some friends afterwards. I look awful - I've been quite ill. But I really like this top and cardigan combo. Such pattern!

The top is leopard print at the front and plain black at the back. The heart cardigan is from the Beth Ditto collection way back. I liked the outfit a lot.

Bujourzee photoshoot

At the end of February my mum and I went to a photoshoot at Bujourzee in Leeds. She had got the deal off Groupon and gave me it for Christmas. We had lunch first, then went into their studio where we had our hair and make up done. We had our photos taken for quite a while - some in front of a blank wall, some in front of a pink background, a black background, a lit up netting, and finally some "boudoir" shots on a mattress. We had to wait while they edited them and then got to choose a few. I'm not sharing them all, but here's a few.

I look like Adele here

I really recommend them if you want a similar shoot!

What I Wore March 15th

March 15th was Sheffield Zine Fest! I had a table to sell my zines and I also did FOUR HOURS of workshops (Lee looked after my stall while I ran them.). I did two workshops, twice. I did my body positivity one and was really empowered by the people I had joining in. I also did a mail art one which had lots of supplies and paper folding, people seemed to enjoy it.

I wore this dress and got lots of compliments on it. It is a Scarlett and Jo one from Evans and I got it in the sale for the bargain price of £35. Plus I had a gift card so it only cost me £15! It's pink underneath with a lace overlay. I wore it with my Dr Martens to amp up the badass factor.

I'm never knowingly under-dressed!

What I Wore March 9th

I was contacted by Marisota to see if I'd like to review something from their Mark Heyes collection. I chose this dress because I love the pattern. I hadn't had chance to wear it but on 9th March Lee took me away to Harrogate. It was a birthday present and it was in the same hotel that we spent the first night of our honeymoon 9 years ago!  We went swimming in the hotel and then ate there too for the bargain price of £5 each!

Most of the other people in the hotel were older people on those coach holidays so we definitely looked a bit different to them and got some stares (Lee has blue hair currently and I am fat and have visible tattoos), but we had a good time.

Dress was gifted to me for review

An old faithful

I can't remembered exactly when I wore this dress recently, but it was in my photos so here we go. I regularly pull out this dress when I need to throw something on that feels comfortable but looks stylish. I love the stripes on this dress, I love the swishy skirt, I love how it makes my boobs feel. I sometimes pair it with a bright cardigan but today I was wearing it with this crochet knit cardigan, also from New Look

Dress and cardigan, both New Look, both old.

What I Wore March 8th and a trip to the seaside

Where I'm from in the middle of the country there's no sea so I'm very envious of those who have it close by. Every now and then I get antsy and demand to be taken to the seaside! And so Lee and I decided to combine a trip to Durham to visit his family with a trip to South Shields. We played in the arcades, we had ice cream, and we sat on the beach for a while. It was cold but fresh, and so lovely!

You can't see my dress perfectly but it's from Asos, it's a swing dress which I like, and it has POCKETS. The hoodie is from New Look and has inbuilt earphones in the hood strings which is quite cool. The boots are from Simply Be.

Hope you enjoy my deserted beach pictures too!
