Trip to the Trafford Centre

At the end of August Lee and I went to the Trafford Centre with my mum and stepdad. After Lee and I visited in May time, I had been wanting all four of us to go and spend the day there. I thought my mum and I could go shopping while Lee and Norman watched a film, and then we could all meet up for some drinks and some food. My mum agreed, so we planned it and had to postpone once I think, but then on the very last day of August we managed to go!

We got to my mum's about 11.30 and set off together in her car to the Trafford Centre. There was pretty bad traffic though so we didn't get there until about 1pm. No matter, the film was booked at 2.30 so we had plenty of time. We parked near Selfridges and walked through. We had planned to just have a sandwich for lunch, so we went to the Pret a Manger concession in Selfridges. It was a nice sandwich! Then we walked through to the food bit, which is where the cinema also is. We decided to book a table for 6pm and decided on Tampopo which is pan Asian food. We looked at the menu and all liked something on it.

The food court in the Trafford Centre is absolutely bonkers - it looks like a ship and it's just very weird. My stepdad really liked it - he's never been before so he was intrigued by it! We let Lee and Norman go off to the cinema and my mum and I started shopping! We went all over the place. I got a couple of bits and I managed to get three bras in Marks and Spencer in my size! Amazing. I will have to see if the Meadowhall one stocks bigger sizes too. We went back towards the food court for a drink, and ended up just getting bottles from the vending machine and sitting on a bench.

We literally walked the length and breadth of the place! We were fine though. We ended up in the Apple shop. My mum's phone was really old and had stopped updating, so I was begging for her to buy a new one. So she did! And then she had to transfer all the data over. By this time Lee and Norman had caught up to us and it was about 5pm. I wanted to have a drink in the nice bar in the middle of the food court before food, so I headed there to get a table. Lee went off to look in a couple of shops and he caught up with me at the bar not too long after.

I had a French martini which was lovely, really delicious! My mum and stepdad arrived not too long after that and they ordered drinks too. By the time we had done there it was 6pm so we headed across to Tampopo.

For starter I had vegetable spring rolls with a peanut and hoisin soup, which was lovely. Then I had sweet potato katsu curry. There was a lot of it but the sauce was lovely! We shared a bottle of rose Cotes de Provence which was lovely. Everyone enjoyed their food. We then walked round the food court a bit more and decided to go to Dolci for some dessert. My mum and I shared a chocolate fondant which was lovely. We also got some treats from Selfridges on the way out.

By this time it was getting late and we had walked absolutely bloody miles! Literally! We left the centre at about 8.30. There was a lovely sunset outside. The traffic was much better this time and we made it back to my mum's in good time. Lee and I came straight home because we wanted to get back for the cats. We're being a bit paranoid over Poppy and Kiki since Jasmine died, so we wanted to make sure they were okay. We were knackered but it was such a good day for all of us! Lee and Norman really enjoyed the film, I enjoyed shopping with my mum, and we all enjoyed the food and drinks.

I was wearing this Joe Browns dress which is just so lovely, it was nice inside all day.

In the main mall in the centre. It is such an odd place but fun too

I took this of all of us as we were walking through the mall to the food court

French martini way later about 5.30

Vegetable spring rolls, they were nice and crispy

Katsu curry

My mum and I shared this which was just as well because we were both full
