What I Wore November 10th

One Sunday in the middle of November Lee and I went to Leeds to see our friends Leanne and Adi. We haven't seen them for a while, so we had made plans to go to their house for lunch.

It was at the end of our week of holiday, and as I had done a lot while we were away I was really in pain and tired. Plus the bed on holiday wasn't ideal for me and I hadn't slept well. I woke up early, but took a bit of a while to get going. I showered and got ready but we were a bit late setting off. Leanne didn't mind, which was good, but I'm sharing the story just to say that just because I look okay doesn't mean I'm not in pain. Chronic illness and pain suck, and really take it out of you!

Anyway, Leanne and Adi and their baby A were pleased to see us. They made lunch and we chatted for ages about all kinds of things. It was a really lovely afternoon.

I was wearing this new burgundy skirt from New Look. I saw it on someone on Instagram and thought, ooh that's lovely, I need to have that immediately. It was only about £24 and while I don't often wear midi length skirts I liked it so much that I thought I would keep it. I love the colour and the silky feel of the material.

I had already decided that it would look best with tights, so I put on my plain black ones from Snag Tights. I love them, they fit me really well. I also pulled out this black top, which I think came from Everything5Pounds originally, although I haven't worn it in ages. I like black with this colour. It felt like a comfortable but somewhat dressy outfit, and I liked it!

The skirt has an elasticated waist at the back, which gives it a nice shape at the front. It's pleated and I love the colour

And here's my outfit in full!

What I Wore 27th August

I bought this dress from everything5pounds last year and I've only worn it once, even though it's really lovely. So when I was packing for the day after Paul and Lianne's wedding, I knew we were going out for lunch with Lee's dad, stepmam, my mum and stepdad, and thought this would be perfect.

It's easy to wear, I love the chiffon sash, and I like wearing horizontal stripes since popular thought says fat people shouldn't do so! I'll have to wear this again soon. I took this photo after our drive home.

New Year's Eve 2016

Another year has come and gone and while 2016 was disappointing in sooo many ways, I also really learnt a lot about myself throughout the year - what I'm capable of, what my limits are, where I will draw lines in the sand, all kinds of worthy things like that. I'm feeling very positive about 2017 and all the adventures it will bring.

Lee and I went out for a meal in Doncaster on New Year's Eve. We went to Turkuaz, which I would highly recommend. Lee had never had Turkish food before but he really enjoyed it. The kitchen is open to view which was great, and there was also a belly dancer dancing - she was fantastic! We each had two courses and a drink for less than £40 which I find to be excellent value, and we would definitely go back. Portion sizes were really generous, too.

After our meal we went to my stepdad's sister's house where we also spent last New Year's Eve. Lots of family were there and it was a pretty good time. We listened to Abba's Happy New Year at midnight!

Here's my face made up for the night. I now have wrinkles by my eyes! I think I'll refer to them as laughter lines, though.

Lee in the restaurant in his new favourite t-shirt (present from my aunt, uncle and cousins, it's the guy from Fallout)

Here's me, wearing my Tara brooch that my mum bought me, and this dress from everything5pounds that I've only worn once before.

I've got some round up posts planned as well as one about my goals for the year, share yours with me if possible!

What I Wore 23rd April

Debz linked to this dress on Facebook, saying that she'd just bought it on everything5pounds. I've bought from there before but not for a while. Their plus size stuff tends to be a bit haphazard, it's not always actually plus size and the quality can sometimes be really ropey. But I've had a few nice things from there and this dress is definitely one of them!

It has a slight stretch to it and the chiffon sash is really nice too. I think the length is just perfect on me, and the stripes are really nice.

I was wearing a lacy shrug from New Look that you've seen before, leggings from George at Asda, and shoes from New Look

My face didn't have a lot of make up, but I love this Rimmel lipstick.

What I Wore 28th September

You've already seen this top in peach here, but recently I've been wearing the mint green one more. They're really nice tops, smart enough for where I work. I got them from everything5pounds but they may not be on the site now.

What I Wore 27th August

I don't always look on everything5pounds, but I like their handbags - I usually buy about 4, use them for a few months each, then bin them when they inevitably break. I looked at the clothes while I was there. The plus size section can be really hit and miss, but I ordered a few bits. I ordered this top in the peach and in a mint green. I wore this for work.

Visit to Lands End and What I Wore 30th September

On the Tuesday of our holiday we went to Land's End. We were staying near the Devon border so it was quite a trip but I couldn't go to Cornwall and not go to the most westerly part of the mainland UK! It costs £6 to go in and park but I suppose someone has to maintain it. There were lots of people there even though it was quite late in the season.

The thing that got me was the sea and the vastness of it! It is lovely and beautiful but also so very overwhelming. You can stand right on the cliffs.

There's a restaurant which is reasonably priced. We had some lovely fish and chips. We also got the touristy photo under the sign taken, but it will arrive soon. It's a really fun place to visit.

Look at the beautiful weather we had

And the blueness of the sea

Me. This is the close up of the dress I was wearing

The dress was from everything5pounds which can be very hit and miss but I love this dress, it's nice and soft with a bit of a sheen and I think the pattern is interesting!

What I Wore February 19th

I'm sorry I haven't written much here. I've been really busy, quite ill, and just generally feeling quite un-confident about myself. I may seem fully confident and I've run body positive workshops, but it isn't always easy in a world that hates fat bodies. I've been trying my best!

This was an outfit I wore to uni. This dress you've seen before, it was from Asos in January 2013, it has an exposed zip at the back. These leggings were off everything5pounds but they're not great quality. They're fun though! The boots I've had since I was about 15 but I recently bought some new ribbon laces for them.

What I Wore November 12th

Are you sick of these dresses from everything5pounds.com yet? Cos I'm not! I like the shades of grey on this one, and I also really like the arms. Throwing this type of dress on is so easy but looks so stylish!

What I Wore 9th November

Lee (my partner), Sam (my BFF) and I went to see the Toy Dolls in Nottingham. Known for their cover of Nellie the Elephant, they're a really fun punk band who play comedy songs but with such finesse. They're one of Lee's favourite bands but they don't tour very often so we haven't seen them since September 2007. They managed to miss out Yorkshire though so we had to go to Nottingham. Anyway, it was a brilliant gig! This is what I wearing.

Dress - everything5pounds.com (it has a small stripe in it. Leah had a problem with this dress because it cut across her boobs; I have the same issue, but for £5 it's wearable).
Cardigan - Evans in the sale over the summer
Leggings - H&M
Boots - Dr Martens

Sorry for the bouncer on the edge!

Out of My Comfort Zone

I haven't done OMCZ for a while, because I kept forgetting about it, whoops. But yesterday I got four dresses from everything5pounds.com and decided I'd wear one for uni yesterday. I already had the grey with red stripes (you can see it here). Then at the weekend Chloe emailed me to tell me that the website was stocking more colours, so I had to go get them. I got burgundy with pin stripes, grey with grey stripes, the two tone one, and this one.

It's actually grey with navy stripes so I'll be looking for some navy leggings to wear with it. I wore a pair of leggings I also got from everything5pounds. However, I can't give them a good review as they were terrible. They kept falling down all the time and when I took them off they'd dyed my legs black! Ugh.

The dress is cute though! I didn't used to wear horizontal stripes but now I wear them with pride - they are classic and I look cute!

Check out all the other babes in their stripes!

What I Wore 30th September

I went to see my friend Roslyn, she's one of my oldest friends - we were at school together. She was living in Ipswich but moved back north, and has recently moved to this gorgeous little flat in Sheffield. It's a really quiet location and this is her private garden at the back which overlooks the river Don. Lovely!

This dress was from everything5pounds.com. I've been checking out the website for a while and recommend you do too! Everything IS £5, and returns are really easy and simple. However, the plus size section can be hit and miss. Sometimes straight size things are mistakenly in there, and things go quickly. If you see something you like, buy it because it might be gone next time you look! But in all it's a fun place to look. I love this dress!
